David Poorvin, Ph.D.

Dr. Poorvin has over 35 years of experience in the pharmaceutical and biotech industry. Dr. Poorvin is currently the Chief Business Officer of Avaxia Biologics, Inc. He is also an Executive-in-Residence at Oxford Bioscience Partners, is President of his own consulting firm and serves on the boards of several biotech companies. Dr. Poorvin recently retired as Vice President of Business Development at Schering-Plough where he negotiated licenses, joint ventures and acquisitions of pharmaceutical products and research technologies. Prior to spending 14 years in Business Development, Dr. Poorvin held positions of Director of Clinical Research at Schering-Plough and Pfizer Pharmaceuticals. He was responsible for several NDA programs and product approvals at both companies, including such drugs as Procardia and Imdur. Poorvin started his career in the pharmaceutical industry at Lederle Laboratories, were he directed pre-clinical drug discovery research in the cardiovascular area.
Dr. Poorvin received his B.A. degree from Hunter College of the City University of New York. He received his Ph.D. from Rutgers University where he subsequently was awarded a post-doctoral fellowship in cardiovascular research. Dr. Poorvin is a member of several professional organizations, including the Licensing Executive Society.
