One example is discovery portfolio analysis, strategy and planning - a worldwide function that Jim established at Pfizer.
Jim's research interests have included published work in drug discovery programs related to the treatment of gastrointestinal diseases, CNS diseases, and cardiovascular diseases which have been recorded in over 100 publications, abstracts, and patents. Professional activities have included officer positions in the ACS Division of Medicinal Chemistry (Secretary, Vice Chairman, Chairman), several ACS committee assignments, and the Board of Trustees of the Gordon Research Conferences, Vice Chairman and Chairman of the Gordon Conference on Medicinal Chemistry, Keystone Conference co-Chair, Adjunct Professor of Medicinal Chemistry at the University of Michigan, and numerous invited lectureships. Jim was Editor in Chief of the ACS publication series, Annual Reports in Medicinal Chemistry for 9 years.
Jim received his Ph.D. in organic chemistry from the University of New Hampshire in 1972 and his B.S. in chemistry from Bates College in 1968.
